International Circulation:  This valsartan amlodipine combination in a single pill（Exforge®）had been approved as a first line medication in the USA. What do you consider the position and the current clinical usage in US?

Professor Weir:  Well there is more and more use of single pill combinations in large part because physicians are experienced with them.  The guidelines have been suggesting them for a number of years now and of course， newer FDA approvals for the use of single pills for people with moderate to severe hypertension.  So I think it is a combination of these events and of course physician knowledge that some patients do benefit from more prompt attention and lower blood pres
